Up Close And Personal

For small format we were assigned to photograph 36 strangers at a distance of three feet, under three lighting conditions, natural light, outdoor with fill flash and indoor with flash. We were instructed to get the subjects name, age, hometown and an interesting fact. The goal of the assignment was to start building a skill set that will be used throughout our career's as photographers. As difficult as it was at times I think the effort was worth the pain and in the long run will be a great tool to have.

Here are a few from each setting.

Old film

This is a scan of a shot I took last summer.

Fruit Assignment

This photo is from last semesters Design Lab 2. The assignment was to photograph fruit in the studio without any props. I used an extension tube to get in tight and focus on the apple stem.

HDR

We have been given an assignment to make an HDR (high dynamic range) image. The image is created by combining three to seven photos of the same scene taken at different exposure values. The result is an image with a much greater tonal range. Here is what I have so far.

Asheville

Over Christmas break a few good friends piled in the car with me and we headed out for adventure. Courtney and Katherine met at my place, we then picked up Melissa and Justin in Winston Salem. After stopping for coffee and bagels we headed west to Asheville. We had a great day photographing the downtown area, breaking and entering (M, you owe me big time for not posting these of you), faux senior portraits, and hobo portraits (K, you owe me too). It was a great day with great friends!

ABC's

We were given an assignment for our Digital Imaging class, to find and photograph the letters of the alphabet that occurred naturally. We then had to cut out the letters and place then on a background. Here is my submission.

Portfolio

Here are two of the five images I turned in for spring portfolio. I hope to have the other three scanned soon.
